Karissa Kiriu

Treasurer

Karissa started dancing at the age of 5, and developed a passion for musical theater a few years later when her mom took her to see Broadway Sacramento’s production of 42nd Street. Since then Karissa has performed in and choreographed an array of local productions throughout San Joaquin County, recent experiences including choreographing the Shared Light Collective’s The Rocky Horror Show, performing at Stockton Civic Theatre as Sally Bowles in Cabaret, and choreographing Weston Ranch High School’s The Prince of Egypt.

From a young age, Karissa’s parents also emphasized the importance of studying math and science as well as staying active through team sports, which led her to be a scholar athlete in high school, obtain a Master's Degree from the University of the Pacific, and become a licensed Civil Engineer. Karissa is so excited to utilize the technical skills and attention to detail that she fosters as an engineer, athlete, choreographer, and performer as the Shared Light Collective’s treasurer.

Born and raised in the Central Valley, Karissa understands the need to make art and movement through dance accessible, and she is so excited to help cultivate a space where people can be themselves, create, and shine! She is overjoyed to be collaborating with local artists, as well as some of her dearest friends, to build a collective that she is incredibly passionate about, one that not only entertains, but also represents the diversity and immense talent in this community.
